The Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) is a great way for local units of government to receive funding assistance for the rehabilitation of multiple aspects of their community including: housing, commercial buildings, streetscape projects, historic building repurposing and public facility updates.
SCDP projects utilize federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through Community Development Block Grants. In Minnesota, this program is delivered through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
DSI has worked with this program for 37 years and has successfully written and administered 74 SCDP grants which rehabilitated more than 1,680 owner occupied and rental housing units and 443 commercial projects along with multiple public facility, streetscape, and historic building projects.
